Floating Art Museum

The Hall Art and Technology Foundation proudly supports innovative art spaces like the Floating Art Museum, a unique gallery housed on a barge on the Oakland Estuary. The Floating Museum highlights collections from underrepresented artists, blending international creators with emerging talents. By reimagining art accessibility and spotlighting historically neglected artists, the foundation furthers its mission to empower cultural innovation.

We continue to search, adding work continually to the Foundation’s collection that is both cutting edge and compelling. We are proud to give these artists the recognition they and the subject matter they present deserves. In partnering with other community arts organizations and universities, HATF seeks to amplify its impact on the next generation and the art world at large.

The Floating Art Museum invites patrons to experience the sea with its marsh, water, and birds, along with the rhythmic sound of traffic on a nearby bridge. Stepping onto the floating barge, where you stand is now gently shifting and unstable. While experiencing subtle movement, the viewer is drawn into a space that inspires the imagination.

Rising Tides is the inaugural exhibition of the Hall Art and Technology Foundation Floating Art Museum, located at 2517 Blanding Ave, in Alameda, CA. The exhibition includes more than twenty artists in a sampling of paintings and sculpture with a curatorial interest in contemporary culture. The artwork responds to concerns about the environment, living through a pandemic, political upheaval, ongoing war, and more.

“The expectation of a rising tide is a hopeful notion, promising that no matter how bleak things look in the moment, if one just holds on long enough, eventually things will turn around…” (Jeremy Dean)

Artists represented in the exhibition come from Japan, South Africa, Costa Rica, Mexico, New York, Chicago, Hawaii, as well as from cities in California.

Rising Tides will be open for tours through May 2025
